Journey to the Heart of Haitian Earth
Grotte Marie-Jeanne, located in the commune of Port-à-Piment in southern Haiti, is the largest cave in Haiti and one of the largest in the Caribbean. With over 2.5 kilometers of explorable galleries, this cave offers a captivating journey underground, to the heart of millennia-old geological formations. The cave takes its name from a local legend, and fascinates with its stalagmites, stalactites and other natural wonders shaped by time.
The cave is open to visitors, who can explore several impressive chambers such as the “Hall of the Great Sapphires”, and admire the engravings and natural sculptures along the way.
